Dr. Asfaw Debella is currently working as a Postgraduate Research and Bioanalysis training coordinator and senior researcher at the Center for Innovative Drug Development and Therapeutic Trials for Africa (CDT-Africa), Addis Ababa University. He has worked as a lead researcher for the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI)). He is a registered consultant pharmacy specialist by the Ministry of Health. He has published more than 175 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored one book and a chapter for a book. He contributed to six utility model certificates in the discovery of health technology products that were registered by the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office (EIPO). He has been serving part-time as an associate professor in teaching courses for graduate and undergraduate students and as a research advisor of MSC and PhD graduate students in various universities. He has won research grants from the Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MinT), and international partners such as WHO and US-CDC for the execution of a consortium of multi-sectorial and interdisciplinary mega research and interventional projects through One Health Approach. He has made significant and successful contributions to various technical committees (senior member of the Research Ethical Board, Editorial Board, Technical think-thank group member, etc.) and consultancy services for the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MinT), and Ministry of Education, Higher Education Development in the preparation of policies and strategic plans. Awards received, gold medals and letters of appreciation from the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), EPA,MinT, MoH.
